I poured myself and my soul into my first novel and would like to share it with everyone. "I Can Fly, but Only at Night" is a new book available on Lulu.com about surviving domestic abuse whether in this world or the next. It is the story of "Alex" as a young child. The reader is never told whether Alex is a boy or a girl, black or white. That's part of what makes this story very different from others, certain story elements are left out for the reader to insert their own experiences. Thus the story becomes a deeply personal one, yet unique from one reader to the next.
The story is universal because this tragedy is universal, it knows no race or gender. So, Alex's story is our story. The pain is felt by all of us, but so is the triumph. The story begins with you "finding" the book, and continues on a journey of faith, hope and love to an ending so wonderfully amazing, you'll know it's too good, NOT to be true.
Truthfully, I remain, Tristan
My passion is ...
discovering and rediscovering the power of words
I know too much about ...
some things, very little about everything, and nothing about anything.
My parents always told me ...
what was best for me, but that didn't stop me from trying to find out for myself.
My childhood ambition ...
was to stay a child, but drive and have money.
My favorite memory ...
is being born. It's a favorite family story I've heard so many times, it's almost like I was there...
Why I write ...
for the same reason a painter paints, I want to, love to, have to.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
the Bible, (which is the greatest work of literature ever, ask Shakespeare), old Alfred Hitchcock movies, music from all over the world, old and new
My first job ...
finding golf balls and selling them back to the "rich people" for a quarter. I was about 10 years old and could easily make 3 or 4 dollars for a movie, popcorn and a soda with change left over for a rocky road on the way home.
My best moment ...
was being there with my mom watching my wife give birth to our son.
My inspiration ...
is overloading my brain, heart and soul. I have alot to write.
Children can learn much by doing chores, but not if you pay them.CHORES, RESPONSIBILITES AND A JOBI had chores growing up, only my parents never used the word "chores." Taking out the garbage, cutting the grass and taking my turn at KP duty were my Responsibilities. And I never "got paid." Unless there is a very well-kept family secret nobody ever told me about, like an enormous Swiss bank account with my name on it.It's not that I'm against teaching kids about money or the value of hard work. In fact, I am a big proponent of both. But, I have been listening to a lot of kids lately and all t...
