About me - Nathaniel Whitley

About me

Have I always known I wanted to be a writer? Not likely. I started out practicing other arts. Drawing, painting, even the martial arts. Even at an early age, I was what those who choose not to embrace their natural talents refer to as 'gifted.' I've won a few competitions in my day, but that never concerned me very much. I just like what I do.

Somewhere along the way my interests grew to encompass the literary arts and I've pursued them with the same vigor, if not more, than I've applied to all others. As recently as the past two years, I've seen myself really grow in the art, finally attaining a level I'm truly comfortable with. I joined Helium not as a way to gain noteriety or recognition, but as a means of testing my abilities against other writers.

As a writer, I've always preffered fiction, but I've been known to pen a piece on history or spirituality here and there. I'm very prolific when I choose to be. I seldom have less than 20 or 30 projects going at a time. Which is not to say I can't concentrate on one alone. When passion motivates me, I can write like a demon.

My interests are vast and varied. I like to think that helps me in my writing by keeping the subjects from growing stagnant. I have a love for the orient, China and Japan, which has inspired a great deal of my creativity in all of my arts. I love the martial arts without limiting myself to just one. I study history, religion, science, philosophy; anything I can to learn more about the world around and within us. I am also a resevoir of 'useless information.'

My accomplishments? Well, I prefer to keep those a secret. If you must have something to go on, my greatest acheivement has been getting to know myself. I let my writing speak for itself.

Perhaps that will be evidenced in this list. 1. Greg House (Hugh Laurie)- Star of the brilliant medical series House, Dr. Greg House is my all time favorite TV character e...
