About me - Christina Hope

About me

My life is literally "stuffed" with "stuff" to write about. I am a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks and the poster child for "If at first you don't succeed, try try again".

I have always written. I remember writing my first short story when I was 10 years old. It was called "Johnny Saw A UFO". I have no idea what became of that little booklet. It was "written off" by my parents. Not that much of anything I ever did pleased them in any real way. Even to this day, I am surprised that I wasn't thrown out along with that little booklet. But I digress....

I thought writing was the natural progression of living. I didn't know the desire to write, much less the ability, didn't come naturally for everyone. That's how natural it is for me. I am not saying everything I write is worth reading, because sometimes it definitely isn't. However, I enjoy the writing process immensely. I edit, rewrite, and poke at my prose, shaping the words into the vision in my head.

I am an avid reader. I believe every good writer is at the very least, a decent reader. My favorite novels are the mysteries, thrillers and legal who-dun-its by authors such as John Grisham, Catherine Coulter, Sue Grafton, and John Sandford. I also like Dean Koontz and Stephen King for their true sense of creativity. I mean, those guys are FAR out!

For every 4 or 5 novels I read, I read one non-fiction book as well. I believe it's important to invest time and energy in learning all you can. Otherwise, what can you feasibly write about with any authority? And aren't learning and growing at the core of being here on Earth anyway? "And the survey says...?"

Okay, call me a book worm. There are worse things to be called, I suppose. They haven't, as far as I know, associated cancer with too much reading. So I feel fairly safe that it is still a good habit. Let me know if that should change, ok?

Thanks to Helium for providing a forum for writers to share their writing. How cool is that? WAYYYY cool, wouldn't you agree?

I miss you John I miss you everyday I understand it was your time to go I realize it was my time to grow But in your absence there is a void I cannot fill and become annoyed. I get along most days just fine You always said my life should shine But every now and then the tears will flow The sobbing starts as if I didn't know Your chair sits empty, your cup unused My thoughts begin to wander and I become amused I think of all the laughter, of all the good times With a tear on my face, I fear I must be losing my mind. With all these words I can't help but ask Am I strong enough yet for this d...
