"Now and again thousands of memories converge, harmonize, arrange themselves around a central idea in a coherent form, and I write a story."
-Katherine Anne Porter
This is how I feel about writing fiction. Most of the stories and books I have written over the years stem from some memory or piece of my past. I am an emotional writer, in that I always write about what I feel passionate about. This also holds true for my poetry. Anyone who took the time to read through my collection would be able to discern fairly quickly the story of my life. There have been first loves, and first mistakes, and the heartbreak that inevitably follows. Putting those thoughts and emotions down on paper have been therapy for me over the years, and when I look back on my journey, the things that I have written take me back better than a snapshot ever could.
Writing non-fiction also comes naturally to me, even if it is not a subject I am familiar with. I love to do research and learn new things. As a mother of a four-year-old daughter, I have written many experienced articles on pregnancy, babies, toddlers, and the joys (and challenges) of parenting. I have also published articles on advertising, business management, gardening, health & fitness, and travel.
I am a contributing writer to a variety of content websites including eHow, Answerbag, Demand Studios, and Suite101.
As for my personal life, I am 27 years old and have been married for 7 years. I have a beautiful red-haired daughter named Aislin, who is the brightest sunshine in my life. I was born and raised in a small town in southern Wisconsin, where I still live to this day. I'm actively involved in volunteer work within my community, and enjoy scrapbooking and quilting in my spare time. I love to travel, and have several articles on the many different locations I have visited throughout my life, particularly Mexico and the Caribbean.
If you would like to talk to me regarding any of my articles, or are interested in hiring me as a freelance writer, please feel free to contact me.
