Norma is a mother of three children who has made her home in northern Canada since 1992. She wakes every morning and begins a new day knowing that her children are healthy, loved and their needs are met.
Adorning an attitude of thanksgiving - striving to look at life in the most optimistic way possible - Norma looks for the best in everyone and uses every day situations and experiences as inspiration for her various pieces of writing.
It's Norma's hope that, in time, she will be able to devote most of her working hours to the world of writing, whether as a full-time writer, an editor or a combination of both.
Meanwhile, Norma strives to enjoy the little things in life which make her richest of all: the smiles from her family and friends, sharing hugs and laughter with her children, the ears which listen to her heart's cries and her hopes and dreams for the future.
As of March, 2009, Norma has self-published five books, the last of which was published as a joint effort between her and writing partner, Michael T. Ingram, Sr. of Virginia, USA.
In the future, Norma plans to publish several other works. However, her main hope is to secure a mainstream publisher and, though there are far more writers than publishers, Norma firmly believes that, where there is a will, there is always a way.
Meanwhile, she also focuses much of her time writing for Squidoo; she is a Rocket Mom and member of the Giant Squid 100 Club. You can visit her profile by viewing the Squidoo link posted to the right of this page.
My passion is ...
Photography, writing, reading and spending time in the great outdoors
I know too much about ...
trying to do ten things at once
My parents always told me ...
When in doubt say, "No."
My childhood ambition ...
First, I wanted to be a teacher. Then I wanted to be a detective but didn't want anything to do with being a police officer. I settled on being a writer.
My favorite memory ...
One which stands out, at this moment, among the thousands is driving up the Icefield Parkway, heading towards Sunwapta Falls Resort. The mountain peaks were capped with snow, I was driving in the valley at midnight, and the moon was lit up like a ball between the mountain peaks and it was so close I thought I could reach out and touch it.
Why I write ...
It's a driving force that doesn't want to give me any rest.
My first job ...
babysitting
My best moment ...
Watching the sunset at Pigeon Lake during summer, 2008, ranks at the top of the list - in terms of time spent in nature.
My inspiration ...
I just have this quest of being a better person than I am today...I'll have the same quest tomorrow.
The sun was shining brightly as three teenagers walked along the rugged coastline, watching the waves crash against the jagged rocks. (Later, while sitting on a boulder - balancing himself precariously so as not to fall into the ocean -) Billy said: I could spend most every day out here. There's something about the ocean which seems to beckon me. (Doug laughs while looking in Billy's direction): You should become a sailor. (John appears deep in thought) I know what you mean, Billy. There's something which seems to pull me here, too. I wonder why. (John went back to thinking ...
