About me - S. Linda Jensen

About me

I have always been fascinated with words. Even as a small child in eastern Oklahoma I loved words. My teachers thought I was gifted with good penmanship, word use, excellent spelling and enunciation, ah but soon we forget!

Although my life has been far removed from a writing career, I did write! My average letter to a favorite family member would be six to eight pages front and back. They all said "you should write".

My daughter is an R.N. and my son is a Veterinarian, my foster daughter is a computer programmer, they all encourage me to write. I see a story in everyone I meet!

My experiences in life include being the young farm wife in the 60's; mother to a fantastic son and daughter and foster daughter, now a happy grandmother to their kids. I was also a farmer-rancher hands on worker; a clerical temp; receptionist; PBX operator; Radio Advertising Sales Manager; Department Store Manager; Apartment Manager and employee for many temporary services. All educational experiences and valuable in more ways than one.

My writing experiences include newspaper editorial letters; press releases; ad copy for newspapers; classified ads for print medias; radio ad copy; newspaper article about learning to play golf; television ad copy; poetry published in The National Library of Congress.

Currently my book "The Bridge Collapse Murder" is published by Publish America. The book can be purchased on line at www.PublishAmerica.com. The story was inspired by the 2002 I-40 bridge collapse over the Arkansas River in southeastern Oklahoma. It is a story of conspiracy, assassins, intrigue and murder.

My book reviews from the few people that have read it since it is not available in stores yet has been good. One friend, a scholar and avid reader did not enjoy my book. He liked the story, not my style. I do have a lot to learn, admittedly. My book was written for the average high school student and adults that like easy entertainment, not professors and scholars that read novels and deep material. Go figure! I am just a common person with a story to tell. Some will like my book others will not. Imagine if we all liked everything the same, how boring life would be.

There are four other books of various story lines started over they years in files or drawers gathering dust.

My husband, and number one fan, had a career in the television news industry as a sound/camera man and a technical engineer. He was with CBS Network News for almost 30 years. He does freelance work now. He plays golf weekly. I love golf as well as he does but I have no time play right now!

We have traveled to many states and his homeland, Denmark, to Mexico, Germany, too. My husband and I enjoy our quiet life in the small community we live in just 47 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas.

Our membership is with the First United Methodist Church, I gather we are in good company as Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush are also Methodists, I am told.

Writing for Helium is great fun and an adventure. Helium is almost as much fun as grandchildren and pets! I have a passion for writing, perhaps more passion than experience but that can be good, right?

Looking into my dear friends eyes and seeing the confusion, the anger and fear all mixed with his need to be with someone familiar has been very difficult. The great sadness is that he still thinks he is okay. He wants to drive his car, he wants to go home.

The 79 year old lost his precious wife only 3 years ago. His son and daughter live in another state and he has just this week been moved into a nursing home.
