Vicki Stockard Phipps is a happily married retired teacher and mother of three. Born and raised in the Lone Star State, she received her degree and teaching certificate in 1982, where she specialized in speech-language pathology, special education, child development and psychology. Her twenty-five year career included teaching children of all ages with a variety of disabilities and she also served as a high school dyslexia coordinator.
As a cancer survivor, Vicki experienced a sudden and unexplained vision loss in 2004 which required that she retire early, but today she claims to have gained new insight into life. In the position of a life transition, she is grateful to finally have the time to write and spoil grandchildren in her spare time.
My passion is ...
Mid-life writing (from a baby boomer's perspective)
I know too much about ...
Patience. . .which is why I always say,"Don't pray for patience, because if you do, God will give it to you."
My parents always told me ...
"No matter how old or rich you get, you'll never be smarter than I will always be."
My childhood ambition ...
To be a very wealthy princess. By the way, I'm still waiting.
My favorite memory ...
Let's see. . .any pristine beach scene, and becoming the mother of three.
Why I write ...
To inspire myself to inspire someone else, which leads me to inspirational people, things and happenings.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Anything the legally blind can read is fine with me. I listen to music which soothes my soul, but sometimes the most soothing song will be, "Play That Funky Music," depending on my mood
My first job ...
An irritated teen working at my dad's shop where he taught me I was not entitled to near as much as I previously believed.
My best moment ...
A day with Thelma and Louise
My inspiration ...
My two new grandchildren and people like you.
