Well, where do I begin?
Strange really, I could write all day about my dogs, pet Pukeko ( large New Zealand native bird) and other animals but I struggle to string a sentence together about myself.
I guess I'll just start with the obvious, I love animals.
I have
I used to spend my working days with animals. That was the easy part. The real challenge was dealing with their owners. My husband and I once owned a boarding kennel and cattery. While my husband toiled on various building sites I attended to the needs of our canine and feline guests. Seven days a week I scrubbed out kennels ... More..
Goldilocks had nothing on me as a wee girl, golden ringlets framed my blue wide eyed angelic face, and perfect teeth between full cupid lips smiled widely back at all who cluck clucked at me, peeking coyly from behind my father's pant leg.Born the youngest of nine, in a comfortably well to do Catholic family, I was welcomed w... Mirror, mirror on the wall who's the most haggard of them all? That's the question my mirror taunts me with these days.Every time I take a fleeting glance, I'm shocked to find some age spot marred stranger peering back at me."Who is this wrinkled old crone" I ask my reflection. The hideous old hag in the mirror strangely mouth... I barely have to move as my very accommodating dogs always bring the stick back. They put it right into my hand. It's great! Consequently I get to enjoy this ... More..
All my dogs are special but on reflection it is my old girl who has made them so. A mother, grandmother and great grandmother Rumour is the grand old lady, the tough old bird, the matriarch. Most importantly she has been a constant fixture in my life for close to 18 years. From the day she was whelped, a cool spring morning b... More..
Scorching grey sand burns the soles of my feet as I hop from one bare foot to the other along the beach. As usual I'm trailing behind my eight older brothers and sisters along with their various girlfriends and my brother-in-law. We're en route to our holiday house tucked behind the undulating sand hills. The family dogs have... More..
There are two distinct types of blonde, the natural blonde and the bottle blonde. Any discrimination against blondes is usually directed at the latter. Look closely at many blonde movie stars, publicity queens, socialites and run of the mill bimbos and you'll find they are really brunettes beneath a liberal dousing of peroxid... More..
As a New Zealander I am fortunate to live in one of the world's most unspoilt, clean and green countries. We have said no to nuclear warships entering our shores, we actively protest against the killing of whales and we strive to protect our native flora, fauna and wild life. However when it comes to turning green, we are stil... More..
