Hi! I'm a gin rin platinum ogon, about 17" inches long. My real name is Reddy... I was hatched in 2003 in California. Most of my pond mates come from Japan - they don't give me a hard time about that. That's probably because I was shipped to my owner with a doitsu lemon hariwake (her name is Harry) and a hi utsuri (named Youie), so the three of us stuck together for a while. I live with 15 other koi. We have a great time with our person. We get fed lots, and even get petted once in a while. I'm a little shy about eating out of someone's hand, but hey, a piece of shrimp will get me coming around just about anytime. I love tofu, and when its hot - oranges, but my favorite thing is Cheerios!

The higher the temperature, say 68 to 72 degrees, the more active the koi, they more they will eat. When the water gets below 50 degrees, koi eat very little, if at all. When it is warm, a koi's whole body speeds up. They grow faster, they burn more calories, they eat more. They'll also digest food faster. So when its warm it only takes ...
