About me - Laney Rowland

About me

About me? Well, what shall I say? I'm 22 going on 40. I'm not a wild and crazy person but I am known for my spontaneity. It's my spontaneity that got me from Virginia to New Jersey and sent me to the Marine Corps. I was born in the wonderful Garden State but my family moved to Virginia when I was ten. I've been on my own since age 16 and moved back to Jersey on a whim at the age of 20. I've been writing poetry since the age of 13 and began writing a novel at age 19. I'm highly ambitious with my writing but also devoted to my job - protective services for railroad cargo.

The best I can say is I change like the wind. One thing that has become apparent to me is that my life has made me who I am. I was rescued from a dangerous home environment and adopted into a loving family at infancy but never went into an orphanage or got tossed around by the system. I have had good times and bad times as anyone does. I've survived them all. The many battles I've fought have defined me as a person and made me stronger. I have much to share for anyone who cares to listen. My experiences are many and varied despite my age. My goal in life is not to become rich but to share my riches - my writing with others. My only desire is that my roller coaster ride will help others to cope with their own conflicts no matter how big or small. I am the survivor and the motivator.

"A Love to Remember" A love to remember, one can only dream But for a time it seemed, that's what you'd given me Now a dream is more than that For once that dream came true It seems that once, one summer, I'd found that love in you I'm sure it remains But so much has changed We've only grown apart More than a friend, so much more You still hold the key to my heart Though you may not know it You still remain the one Now so different we two are Yet still my love is strong Maybe stronger, I'm not sure Love's hard to figure out But one thing I know is true I still love you without doubt
