Hello!
Welcome to my About Me page.
I would rather write about any other thing in the world than about myself so bear with me.
I am a 55-year-old mother of 3 who recently found herself in an empty nest. My husband works away from home so I am here alone with the dogs and my computer 5 nights a week.
Is it wrong of me to enjoy this quiet time so much? The empty nest syndrome is supposed to be miserable and lonely from what I have heard.
I live in Northern Wisconsin where the winters are cold and long. I love being outdoors but when the temperature dips below 50, you will have to look for me inside.
My husband bought me a Harley for my 50th birthday. On clear, warm days I am out exploring the country. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the world from behind bars.... handlebars, that is.
Things I look forward to are:
* Spending time with my kids and 2 grandkids - a boy and a girl
* My annual trip to Sturgis South Dakota every August for the Bike Rally.
Things I enjoy:
* Sharing interests with people on the Internet
* Current Events involving real people. People like myself, middle class, not famous or notorious for anything.
* Unsolved Crimes.
* Doing research on the Internet, which I refer to as the world's biggest library. I especially enjoy helping others find information. There are a lot of people who are totally bewildered by the Internet and don't know how to use it to find information. I spend a lot of time on Yahoo Answers, helping kids do research for homework assignments and helping other people find answers.
My Accomplishments:
* I worked for a website for 5 years until it was sold. I did PR work and built a 27,000 link Directory on a specific topic. I worked from home and made a very good salary. I miss my job (and the money!) but I can also understand why the owner sold it. The dot com world had it's glory day and he got out while the getting was good.
* I tried my hand at running a restaurant for 9 months.
After the six months, I knew I was not going to survive in that business. I have a newfound respect for restaurant owners. It's more than a 24/7 job, it is a marriage.
* My greatest accomplishment, and I saved the best for last, is raising my kids and participating in the raising of my grandkids. I feel that family plays the most important part of a child's life so I gave up "my day job" to help my daughter and son in law raise their kids. I strongly believe that a hired babysitter just does not provide the love and security that a child needs to grow.
People only get one chance at a good childhood and I want to be sure that all my off springs have the one thing money can't buy... good childhood memories.
Well, that's my story. I hope it was interesting.

A judge in Arkansas has his hands full women fighting over a piece of trash. The women are each claiming they should have legal ownership of a $1 million lottery ticket discarded in a trash bin at a store in Bebee, Arkansas (ABC News, 2012). Sharon Jones says it is not the first time she dumpster-dived for loser lottery tickets. It’s just the first time one of them has been a winner. The manager of the store claims that ticket belonged to her and promptly filed a lawsuit against Jones (ABC News, 2012).
