I am 59 years old, wife of 38 years, mother of two and grandmother of 5. I love reading and decorative painting. I decorate wedding cakes for a living, and enjoy the creativity. I like to knit and crochet, but my attention span has shortened...if I can't do it quickly, I lose interest. I also like to make rosaries and also, from time to time, make mission rosaries to send to missions or shrines.
My passion is ...
reading. And for the past year, I have really gotten involved in what I call, armchair activism. I try to keep up on current events in politics and write to my congressmen quite often. And now, I have discovered helium...and a new outlet for my ponderings.
I know too much about ...
cake decorating. I've been doing it since 1980 and some days I think I might want to try to do something else for a living. At my age, just not sure what that might be!
My parents always told me ...
There are three things I remember my mother always saying. One, don't wear underwear with holes in it...you never know when you might have to go to the hospital. Two... And people in hell want ice water. And three...Every time I said "I wish it was Saturday,", or "I wish I was older" my mother would say, "You are going to wish your life away!"
My childhood ambition ...
I always liked to sing. I thought it would be cool to make my living as a singer. I decorate wedding cakes.
Why I write ...
I've always thought about writing but never did much besides try my hand at poetry. It is becoming a compulsion. Perhaps it is a way to "leave something behind". I tend to share of myself in my writing. By reading my writings, you can get a glimpse of me as a person.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I love reading Star Trek books. For a time, I bought every one as it came from the publishers. I also like reading Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen. As for listening, during the day, I listen to Klove, a contemporary Christian radio station. I also listen to it during the night...it helps to drown out hubbies snoring!
