With an interdisciplinary background in chemistry, statistics, and marketing; Apryl DeLancey has most of her writing published in scientific journals and technical proceedings. A Los Angeles native that received her MS in biomedical sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina, she has penned essays and speeches for various competitions. Her affinity for writing comes from the desire to be more than a "math nerd". She recently deserted the stifling Corporate America environment and is a freelance analyst and writer full time.

The best toys that I grew up with were those that kept me active: roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, baseball mitts, footballs, and basketballs. Any toys that allowed me to be outside and moving around were ideal for me! My seminal pair of skates had those funky metal wheels. Although cumbersome, I didn't let that inhibit my fun and I wore them into the ground. I would spend hours imitating figure skaters, attempting tricks in the street.
