I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington. While still a student I worked in the writing center assisting my fellow students with the writing process. This was a great job. I loved being paid to read the work of my fellow students, and probably learned more from the experience than they did. After college I moved on and am currently employed as a workers' compensation adjuster. I love what I do, and greatly enjoy knowing that I have had a positive impact on the lives of the workers that I serve. I have found however, that I miss the writing and sharing of ideas that I have come to enjoy while in college.
In order to satisfy my creative side, I recently enrolled in a writing class at the University of Washington extension program. On the first day of class, I was greatly surprised to discover that a rough draft a a novel is required for graduation from the program. It's amazing the messes that you can get yourself into! Anyway, here I am, a somewhat reluctant budding novelist.
As a worker's compensation examiner, I have handled thousands of claims for back injuries over the years, and receive new claims for back injuries on a daily basis. In doing so, I have learned that these injuries are costly for both the employer and the employee.
