I'm a PhD student in literature. My background is in publishing, communications, and teaching. I came to Helium when I found myself writing lengthy responses to articles posted on other sites, and realized that I should be writing the actual articles, not just the responses!
My college had 2,000 students. My graduate university has 40,000. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. Now that I am a TA, I have a chance to see what college life is like for students at a large university, and it makes me value having attended a small college. When I was an undergraduate student, I never had more than about 15 or 20 students in a classroom. My classes were taught by professors, not TAs.
