Greetings -
I'm a geezer (TOG, if you like Wogan) who was born in Florida, have an education in Botany and Genetics, was a musician (guitarist) for some big bands in the late sixties - early seventies when I traveled the world. Have been everything from a high steel worker, longshoreman, orchid grower, junk yar... EXCUUUSE ME! auto salvage yard ... manager, bar owner, commercial fisherman, explorer, etc. I am now living in Bocas del Toro, Panama' and in David, Panama' - a true paradise. Am constructing a hotel/bar/restaurante/casino in Almirante, Panama', and writing books (Oh, yeah. I've had 83 books published that are now on POD ( http://www.lulu.com/user/maitaman ). I have several websites for everything from general junk ( www.maitaman.com ) to photos to land the Indios want to sell. Most of my closer friends here are Indios, with whom I work to stop gringos and others from ripping off. Land is the primary method used against them, where RE agents will make a contract for a certain pitiful price, then sell the land for a huge price and pocket as much as 85% of what they get. I try to get my friends a fair price that is still less than half of what the agents want - which makes me popular with the Indios AND the agents, though in radically different ways.
Oh, well - I'm me and will stay me until somebody knocks me off to shut me up.
If you're ever in Bocas del Toro, you'll find "CD" is well-known. Maybe I'll see you when I'm playing guitar at the Big Bamboo - Or Bocas Bill's - Or The Iguana - or Bohmfalk's - or Flip Flops - or Refugios - or....
