I agree that the age a child should attend the theatre is different for each child. However I do believe that by as young as three and maybe even two your child can be conditioned for it. The first step is to attend movies that would appeal to them in your local movie theater.
Try to go to a movie specifically for children, probably a cartoon if they're younger. Go early in the day, to the first showing if possible. Make sure that you don't go around nap time when you're child will likely be cranky and unwilling to sit through the duration of the movie.
