I've been writing since I was a little girl, but until finding Helium, never made any serious attempt to hone my craft. I've been impressed with many of the talented writers who frequent this site. Ending up on the Winner's Board after a Helium contest is an exhilarating feeling. I've been there 3 times, but just can't get that gold. In June of this year (2009) I published my first book "The Spell of Religion and the Battle Over Gay Marriage", which poured out of me while I watched the GLBT community have to fight for equality. A fight they unfortunately lost here in California. My passion is to see ALL people treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, color, creed, religion or gender preference. And for all tax paying citizens to reap the benefits of the 14th amendment which promises all of us equal protections under the law. I am on the Speakers Bureau for PFLAG (Parent Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays). We go into schools and other venues to educate people on the truth about the GLBT community. It's the best volunteer job I've ever had.
I have three amazing adult children and three precious grandsons and I live with my husband Steve, who is also a writer. Additional tidbits about me are; I became a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do when I was 45. I love nature photography and and I'm drawn to Asian culture (probably a past life thing) and hope one day to spend time in Japan, particularly Kyoto.
Feel free to contact me with any input you have regarding my writing. I'm very open minded and love to learn where I can improve, as well as what I'm doing right.
Peace
