About me - Marvin Double

About me

Born in The USA, I moved to Canada in 1970, where I married and began my family.

My wife and I have three adult children, five grandchildren.

My creative nature is not bounded by a specific media.  Curious by nature, I love the challenge of using  my talents to share the world with others both visually and verbally.

My first love is art and so, after graduating High School I attended Art School.  During that period  I also discovered the art and science of photography, which I found to be very appealing,

After taking courses in Photography, eventually I I opened my own photography business. in the mid '70's.

Freelance writing is another form of artistic expression, which helps satisfy my need to communicate.  There are so many stories to tell.

As a member of the Boomer generation, I have gained a perspective on the world which comes with age.  This has expanded the scope of my interests, and deepened my understanding with regard to the stories I write or the projects I find interesting.

I will continue to be engaged in some form of creative enterprise so long as I am able to do so.

As a kid, growing up in the American mid-west, in the 1950's patriotism seemed pretty simple. It was that feeling of pride about the place we lived and the things we did as American's. Being patriotic was just an accepted part of the culture. When people stood, hand over heart during the national anthem no one had to explain why -it was a gesture of respect, a sign of unity. Even to kids the concept of patriotism was pretty obvious. We were all proud to be Americans, living in the land of the free, home of the brave. Patriotism was all around us every day.
