Wife, mother, employee, student, writer, and volunteer are all tags that, taken together, describe the person I am. I'm some of them all the time and all of them some of the time just like everyone else.
I'm probably most proud of my status as wife and mother. My husband and I have been happily married for 25+ years and we've raised three beautiful daughters to adulthood. We've had tough times like anyone else, but we've gotten through them and I think our family is stronger as a result.
Now that my daughters are grown, I'm working more on the writer, student, employee and volunteer aspects of my life. I learn more about, and become stronger with, myself every day and I feel this is not only good for me, but that it also helps keep my relationship with my husband fresh and new.
The content I write for this site is helping me to grow and learn more about the writer aspect of myself - and I hope it also encourages and inspires anyone else who might read some of my work. I've been published in a variety of forms, but I really like that the users of Helium tend to give immediate feedback and I feel that this will be very beneficial in the evolution of an important part of myself.

In fact, my oldest daughter initially started college as a physics major with the intention of becoming an astronomer; she didn't continue the program because she was in the minority gender-wise since I believe only one other girl attended the freshman orientation for the physics program at the same time she did. She was just as inte...
