For me, writing is that guilty pleasure on the side.
I just finished my Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology and now am working on getting licensed. I give psychotherapy to children and families.
I think being a psychologist provides me with unique knowledge and experiences with the human psyche. I think reading fiction and literature does too.
I was published as a kid. I had poetry published in three separate publications and short stories in one. I wrote in college but devoted my energies mostly to Psychology. Only now have I been finding the time and the energy again to write on the side.

Disciplining a young child can be unpleasant for both the child and the adult who has to do it.
