Christmas caroling was just what I needed to help get more boys to join our cub scout troop. Our group had begun late in the school year and only had six boys. Each cub scout was to invite a friend to go Christmas caroling and a party afterward at my home. The thought was that it would be a great way to recruit new members while doing a community service project. Invitations went out to the new recruits and the scout's parents were all instructed that they would chaperon the event. It was a great idea in theory.
