Gardening has long been a tradition in our family. My Grandmother (who I most affectionately still call "Grammy" at the age of thirty- three) is a Japanese immigrant that moved to Arizona in the 1950's after marrying my Grandfather who served in the Korean War. My grandmother born in 1928 was a child of war. When her Father died she was nine years old and her mother was left with 5 children and not much more. Growing up in Japan poor withstanding war and depression, gardening was a staple in their life not only did their gardens feed them, but they brought a source of unity and fellowship ...
