I've loved to write since I was 9 years old and I'm now past the half century mark. It's been like a lifeline as I tried to find my way in this big, wonderful but sometimes cruel & harsh thing we call life.
Most of the items I've had published were either local or to a select audience. Though I do have one published novel. Since most of the articles I write are personal few ever see them. I figured they'll make for a good book after I'm dead to make all my heirs rich.
Besides writing I'm a voracious reader. There's no one genre that I prefer. It's just whatever happens to be my current interest or attracts my curiosity. But I'm also big on genealogy. There's just a thrill about finding someone that would otherwise be forgotten or a family secret. So I enjoy doing it for others as well.
I'm a mother, wife & grandmother. I tend to look for the best in everyone I meet and want to help others in any way I can.
But most of all I'm a writer. It keeps me sane. It's my addiction. Without it I'm no good for anyone or anything. I don't do it for wealth and fame. I do it because something inside says I must capture a thought before it's lost in time.
My passion is ...
Writing, genealogy and helping others.
I know too much about ...
The Bible (if that's possible), Jews, WW II and American history
My parents always told me ...
A hero is someone who's in the right place at the right time & CHOOSES to do the right thing.
My childhood ambition ...
Write better poetry than Helen Steiner Rice, sing better than Joan Baez, be a better shrink than Freud, write better music than Mac Davis & be a better author than Stephen King. Didn't want much, did I?
My favorite memory ...
Sitting on the porch swing with my dad during a thunderstorm. Singing & swinging in total defiance of my fear of the lightning.Somehow I knew as long as daddy was there nothing could hurt me.
Why I write ...
It feels as natural as breathing. When I don't I get totally stressed out.Plus I enjoy helping others.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I love The Christ Clone Trilogy. I'd never dream a book with such a corny title could have such heart stopping drama. I love TNT's Saving Grace. It speaks to a world looking for hope that they aren't beyond redemption. My fav song is "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. Everytime I hear it I remember my dad and when I was little.
My first job ...
Washing dishes in a restaurant by hand. No machine or sprayers.Just really hot water on sensitive hands. I still hate washing dishes.
My best moment ...
When my son opened his eyes from a coma.
My inspiration ...
The Lord, all those I love, history & life in general.
I've been blessed most of my life with neighbors that care about others, even strangers. So I learned when I was young how to help others without making them feel obligated or insulted. Whenever there was a huge snow all the kids were taught to gather the snow around the cars first for snowmen and snowball fights. When there were leaves to be raked we'd always ask for permission to rake them into our own yards. The more leaves the bigger the pile to jump in. It doesn't sound like much but sometimes just knowing there's one less chore can ease a burden. One neighborhood I lived in was very ...
