About me - Vickie Hoyt

About me

I am a special education teacher, currently teaching 2nd and 3rd grade Learning Disabled students. In the past I have taught special education, grades 1 through 7. I have also taught plant life and reading remediation at a middle school level.
My interests include a wide variety of things, besides teaching and writing. I enjoy jewelry-making,gardening, houseplants, painting, interior decorating, bike riding, birds, internet communities, study of religions, The Humane Society, and above all, being bossed around by my kitties.
My philosophy of life is to love one another as Jesus loved us, although I often fall short of this. I also believe we should enjoy this journey called life, but leave no tracks behind. I love and respect all forms of life and try to kill no living thing.
I write as a form of self expression. It is just one way I express myself. I find it's the best way to allow others to see that expression.

We are not defined by our disorder, or at least, we should not be. It is only a part of who we are. Most of us are regular human beings, carrying on regular lives, with the help of medication. There may be times when we have episodes of depression or mania (...
