The older I get the harder it is to answer this, which sounds wanky, but isn't meant to be. All we can is list what we have done but now I wonder whether that is what we are. And if it isn't, what is? Me - is - and these are the things that resonate for some reason at the moment - 5 foot 3, still not metric, (and obviously feeling small) tired, loving but expasperated by my children, hungry for more out of my life than what I currently have, but afriad to take the steps I know I should.
Yesterday I was someone else.

My passion is ...
Words and images. Stories.
I know too much about ...
... you can't know too much ...
My childhood ambition ...
To write a Book. Any Book.
Why I write ...
I write because I love the act of translating an emotion, an experience, a question, or an issue, into words. In the act of writing I find my voice, and often also find out what exactly I think. Writing can be a discovery of the inner self, a focusing when everyday circumstances and the masks we each choose to don - or have forced on us through external demands and/or exposure to things too early for us to make firm out own true beliefs/responses - make us unsure of who we are.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Today - Fantasia, and Fantasia 2000, a book by Merle Thornton about being in a shared household in Melbourne, Inspector Rex on SBS, and the News. Listening to Tommy Emmanuel and a CD my son got me for Christmas which I think I like. (29/12/2010)
My inspiration ...
My love of writing comes from my love of reading. I love to read. I read anything - or is it to listen? Reading is like listening to someone else speak. I think I might have started writing because there have been moments when there wasn't anything around to read. The power of the written work inspires me. Other people's written voices have contributed a lot to who I am. My dream job would be to teach writing to those who think they can't, and reading to those who think they can't.

Ingredients: Carcass of leftover roast chicken, stuffing and remaining meat removed leftover chicken meat, roughly chopped stock cube can of creamed corn one egg handful of chives slurp (approx 1/3 cup) of sherry Place the carcass in a large pot and cover with water. Bring the pot to a boil ...
