About me

Hi.

My name is Mitchel Olivier, as you can probably see already. I'm mumble years old. For those of you at that age, I'm sure you know how old mumble really is. If you don't, that's... Forty (shudder). I kid, since I don't feel 40.

I became a writer because of my many experiences over the years. I was a college student at age 15, a fact which blew the minds of my professors and fellow students when they found out. Although I majored in computer science, my studies were all over the board. One might suggest that I have Attention Deficit Disorder, but I've not been diagnosed.

I minored in psychology, and have interests in forensics, and have at times considered working in various related fields; from crime scene investigation to lab technician, or oddly enough bail retrieval agent (bounty hunter).

My various hobbies include leather craft, woodworking, and period weaponry from all over the world. I've been an amateur meteorologist and tornado chaser for years with several notches on my belt from good storm hunts.

I hold a 5th degree black belt in Kempo Karate, and have been involved in martial arts since I was 6. I play the guitar well, and have been invited to play in several local music groups. I've declined because they were traveling groups, and my condition wouldn't allow me to travel at that time.

I was diagnosed with Lupus in 1995, and have since gone through 10 years of various treatments and legal battles. There was no malpractice, but the medicine I was given to control my near-death attack caused complications. As a result, I needed a hip replacement and an artificial lens in my eye to replace a cataract.

Now that I'm rebuilt (better, stronger, faster... well not faster) I'm back in action. I see a bright future for myself and am ready to take on any challenge.

Entertainment > TV Genres & Trends Is television worth watching?

I've asked myself several times in the last few years if television is worth watching. More and more my answer is 'no'.

I'll begin with the advent of pay television. In the 50's an idea came along for pay tv. You would get so much television for your 25, then you'd have to put in another quarter if you wanted to watch more... kind of like those 'magic fingers' beds you would find in cheesy motel rooms. Like pay toilets, these went the way of the dinosaur.

It was the late 1970's when a gentleman wishing to help his snowbound friend in Alaska began running a primitive cable not far fr...
