That's a weird picture right?

Let's face it, that's the first thing we look for when visiting other people's profiles. We want to know what they look like, right? If you must know, I chose that photo for its inspirational value. Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. But to keep this photo from telling everyone a different thousand words, I'll try to tighten up the parameters. That's a picture of me, as I look upon my newly born son; who came into this world before we were ready for him. I was exhausted and poured out. It had been a long hard night. But, there in that picture, the morning of a new day is captured. The sun has returned filling an empty vessel with new inspiration.

It's not a pose. It's not contrived. It's just me taking in a moment; a glorious moment of my life.

Here's a little info about my Pen Name, A J Grape. My first and middle initials are A (for Anthony) and J. (for John). My last name is Uva, which literally means Grape in about seven different international languages. So Anthony J. Uva is A J Grape.

I write quite a lot. I am constantly working on stories and articles and projects; and sorting through thoughts here and elsewhere! I am amazed at how many great and diverse types of writers reside here at HELIUM. So far, you all have been really good company.

I've found Helium to be a place that gives room to all who have the desire and determination to stand out. This is my goal, as I look for opportunities to grow and prosper.

I wanted to be an artist or a writer.

hmm, this ones tough. One favored above all? I can't do it. Okay, here's a favorite memory. Perfecting my cartwheels in center field during little league baseball games. In those years, it was rare to see a ball come out that far.

Why I write ...

I think it has to do with passion and frustration. Hemmingway said, "A writer must write what he has to say, not speak it." I think that's true for creative writers.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

the bible, the radio, my favorite people, the writing on the wall.

My first job ...

I was a 10 year old paperboy. I later worked at a car wash at age 16 and vaccumed under foot pedals with my chin resting on smelly seat cushions.

My best moment ...

is still to come, perhaps today.

My inspiration ...

is knowing that I have been given second chances over and over and over again
