About me - Kevin Jameson

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. I hauled off to Penn State University when I was 18 to learn how to become an English teacher for five years. At 23 I wound up outside of Baltimore, Md. where I became a salesman of industrial and construction supplies.

Education > Colleges & Universities (Other) Should college education be available to the many or reserved for the few?Smallicon

There was a time when this country was dotted with family businesses, and the objective was to pass the torch of that family business from generation to generation. Parents would send their children off to school to earn a high school diploma (to ensure their children were well-rounded members of society) and welcome them ba... More..

Computers & Technology > Phone Technologies & Issues Should cell phone use be banned while driving?Smallicon
14 of 112

The number one article written on the other side of this debate opens with a story about one driver nearly getting into an accident due to a driver distracted by his cell phone. Certainly this happens every day. But just as certain as this happens every day, there are dozens more drivers who find themselves distracted by iPo... More..

Sports & Recreation > Football Players Guide to the greatest NFL players of all time
1 of 3

The average career for a player in the NFL is 3 years. Brett Favre has been a league staple for 17 years. Since 1991. Since I was 9. As long as I have been able to reasonably comprehend what the NFL is, Brett Favre has been a part of it. He has started nearly 250 consecutive games, won 152 of them. He's thrown 424 touchdowns... Food & Drink > Candy & Desserts Which is better, plain M&Ms or peanut?Smallicon

Truthfully, I'm stunned this is even a debate. Perhaps a more suitable challenge for the peanut M&M would be his creamy cousin, the peanut butter M&M. The plain M&M has no character. It always leaves me wanting more. Ask any chef and he'll tell you that the key to a fine dish is balance. The plain M&M has no ... More..

The Patriots got caught with their hands in the cookie jar week one when it was revealed that a Patriots associate was caught videotaping the New York Jets sideline. Bill Belichick, the surly, sweatshirt clad mastermind of one of the most successful sports teams of the past decade, publicly danced his way around accusations ... More..

Hobbies & Games > Video Games (Other) Does violence in video games contribute to real life violence?Smallicon

The way this question is written, the only conceivable answer is "yes." If violent video games have contributed to just one singular act of violence the answer is "yes," and it's incorrect to think that video games haven't at least inspired one act of violence. But it is vitally important to keep in mind that while violent v... More..

Education > Education (Other) Should the education system allow teachers and principals to "hit" students if they are misbehaving in class?Smallicon

Central Catholic High School is a throwback. Old-style half lockers stacked on top of one another; top lockers for upperclassmen, bottom lockers for the lowerclassmen. Analog clocks in the hallway. Every forty minutes when it's time to change classes, old mechanical bells cry out and the halls are instantly alive with a flur... More..

Politics, News & Issues > Presidential Elections 2008 Would Hillary Clinton be running for president today if she weren't married to former president Bill Clinton?Smallicon
12 of 17

Bill Clinton immortalized himself and his family when he and Monica Lewinsky, er, "got down" in the oval office, thrusting Clinton's personal life into the public spectrum. The country watched as questions surrounding Clinton's general morality swirled, and we all asked ourselves what we would do if we were in Hillary's shoe... More..

Entertainment > Music Genres, Trends & Scenes Should the music industry do more to improve the moral content in song lyrics?Smallicon

One of the great things about this country is that we get to choose what we like. We choose what we like to eat, drink, watch on TV, see in the theater. We choose the sports we want to play, clothes we like to wear, charities we want to donate to, and even the music we listen to. I hate Abba. I mean, really. I hate them. And... More..

Education > Teachers & Administrators Are we giving students too much power over teachers?Smallicon
10 of 10

Giving students any power over teachers is a bad idea. I'm not convinced this is an issue as, generally, if any teacher is found to be giving students power over her, she is fired. However, if we are to consider the question of giving students power not necessarily over teachers, but shared power in the classroom, we have a ... More..
