About me

My name is Lisa. I live in a small rural community in central Oklahoma. I am a person of many interests. I love to read, watch movies (my favorites are classics and old "B" horror movies), and participate on messages boards/forums in the debate/discussion areas. I think my deep passion for reading and voicing my own opinion has resulted in my great desire to write. I cannot remember when I did not dream of being a writer.

For a period of about two years, I was a member of a local writers club, Professional and Amateur's Writers Society (P.A.W.S.) in Prague, Oklahoma. We held workshops and attended seminars given by well-known and published authors. These people were gracious enough to share with us their secrets and knowledge regarding the writing profession. We submitted examples of our writings to each other for analyzing and feedback. This was sometimes quite painful and definitely humbling.

I have participated in Christian based message boards regularly during the last five years. This pastime has honed my debate skills, both written and verbal. Through this participation, I was inspired to study the early church, and in doing so learned what it actually taught and believed. I have become acquainted with the teachings and beliefs some of the earliest church fathers. I am now quite adept at articulating my understandings in such a way as to shake the credibility of any opposing views. I spend a considerable amount of time on one particular board where I have gained a decent reputation as one who has done her research.

I have acquired approximately 80 credit hours towards a bachelor's degree. It is my goal to obtain a degree in Liberal Arts. I have not returned to complete my post-high school education since the death of my mother about six years ago, choosing instead to focus my attention on family and work. My last child (I have three children) has graduated high school. This has freed up much of my time, and I intend to return my focus to obtaining this degree.

While attending college, I managed to earn a grade point average (GPA) of approximately 3.75. My strongest asset, which contributed to my ability to maintain this GPA, is my writing ability. My years working in the secretarial field have also served to keep my spelling and grammatical skills up to par.

Anyhow, I think I have rambled enough about myself and will bore you no longer.

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Beliefs & Culture Could Christianity survive without the Bible?

Actually, this question is loaded and pretty much a moot point. It's like the proverbial question, "Which came first the chicken or the egg?" The question is like a double edged sword. Could Christianity, (ie: church) survive without the Bible, or would the Bible exist without the work of Christians (ie: the church)? The Church could and would survive without the Bible, but not without the "Gospel." Matthew 16:18 promises that Christ's church will never face defeat. It does not base that guarantee upon the existence of "the Bible." To defeat Christianity is to defeat God; that cannot and w...
