Welcome to my page!
I write in Northwestern Ontario, not far from Kakabeka Falls, the "Niagara of the North", a spectacular waterfall on the Kamanistiquia River.
Creative writing has become my favourite past-time, and writing fiction has become my favorite challenge with a focus on humanity itself. Novels, short stories, books for children, technical writing, essays, information , how-to articles, experimental writing, poetry and two completed full length motion picture screenplays are all included in my portfolio.
I tend to avoid writing if uninspired. I am an observer of humanity and look to my natural surroundings, spirituality, friends and family for inspiration, and constantly examine my exposure to the rest of humanity complete with it's eternal questions of faith, merit, excellence, perfection, and fallibility, the observable legacy of humanity that is offered to all.
Sometimes it is the unseen that affects one most profoundly. The soul participates and must be allowed to explore and grow. Creativity is growth.
"Self-expression is a kindness to the soul that so invests" is one of my favourite quotes. Writing creatively is self-expression of the soul, -which may be denied only at the peril of one's very existence. Humanity is destined to learn, perhaps at times the hard way, when civility, decency and human kindness are pushed aside by greed, materialism, and thoughtlessness.
I firmly believe we must strive for personal improvement in spite of inherent traits and the difficulties encountered in expressing them. Perhaps society is rife with hypocrisy and unchangeable, but that should never preclude the attempt to effect needed change. I must admit I have only recently started to genuinely believe the world can be changed beneficially if enough effort is made. Eternal hope and faith encourages that thought process.
Writing is a learning process, an endless observation and recording of civilization but it can also be the ultimate power of persuasion. Perhaps therein lies it's greatest value. "The Pen is Mightier than the Sword" is relevant to this age of confusion -and remains effective.
At times writing is more demanding than life itself. Playing with two character dogs , quietly walking in Boreal forests, riding quad trails; watching moose and deer, weeding the garden, attempting to prospect for gold, or painting with dried up oils -all seem to end up relegated to second place because the muse is not amused if ignored.
A "Jack of all trades" with many interests, I find that writing seriously challenges time required for other favourite hobbies, which include woodwork, molding in clay, creating ceramics or working on an old coal forge to bend iron.
I continue to believe "Our use of words is fraught with traps and treasures" and also infers much responsibility.
Time is of the essence for all of us, so may we all use it judiciously.

Friendship: Lend me your Fears “ ‘Tis within the realm of both our blessings and our incompetence to hurt another life, or love, cherish, and befriend a fool to happily lend a hand with time, ‘ere he is gone, vanished forever into the mist”. Friends. We choose them, and sometimes they choose us, but what is to come of the future if no action is taken to perpetuate friendship? Let us be honest. We sometimes face the unnerving possibility that we shall have no idea what to say to old friends when ...
