I have always enjoyed writing, but for many years I chose a different hobby, cars, as my day to day career. Having worked in three car dealerships for a total of five years, plus over two decades in body shops, including Rolls Royce experience, I currently sell cars at Border Pontiac in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and own a custom car body and paint shop called Saalmans Auto Refinishing (www.theautopainter.com). I spend my days selling cars, and evenings and weekends designing and building custom body modifications and doing custom paintjobs on some really cool vehicles. I also take average vehicles and make them stand out. Painting flames on cars is a specialty of mine. I am also a bit of a Dukes of Hazzard fan and have a room devoted to my Dukes collection. I even have a General Lee that I drive in the summer. You may notice a tendency towards writing about cars when you read my work, but I have other interests as well. I love to travel, and in recent years have discovered a love of Cruise ship vacations and all-inclusive resorts. I have a dog named Tucker and two cats - Queenie and Shadow. As you can tell, this doesn't leave me much time for writing or anything else, but on those rare occasions when I have spare time, I like to head to the casinos in Niagara Falls for a little roulette. It's not quite like Vegas, but it's a lot closer to home for me.
My passion is ...
doing the best I can at whatever I try.
I know too much about ...
nothing really. I don't believe you can ever know too much, but some would say I know too much about the Dukes of Hazzard.
My parents always told me ...
a lot of things I didn't listen to.
My favorite memory ...
is chasing my mom around the back yard carrying a worm when I was quite young. It sounds strange but it's one of the few memories I have of her. She died when I was 7.
Why I write ...
I write because I enjoy it. If I can someday make money at it, great. If not, I still do it because I like it.
My first job ...
was working in a garage, helping the mechanic. I always loved cars, so I figured why not get paid for it?
My best moment ...
would have to be any moment I spend with my wife.
My inspiration ...
a lot of different things.
If you're thinking of buying a new car, I will give you the same advice I offered my own wife & my step-mother; It's always better to pay a few dollars more to get what you want, rather than settle for something to save a few bucks, & then regret that decision, which is usually the case. This goes for the whole car as well as the individual options. Most new cars offer a long list of optional equipment, with items ranging from power windows or air conditioning (yes that is an option on some cars), to upgraded stereo systems & DVD players, or sunroofs. You have to think of what ...
