Under normal circumstances my pick for best NFL running back would be a tough one with a toss up between the likes of Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Marshall Faulk, and many others but seeing as the term pound for pound was used I have to go with a surprise choice in Eddie George.
