About me - Pam Lawhorne

About me

My name is Pam Lawhorne and I am a small business expert, kreative marketing consultant and empowerment coach who provides advice, guidance, and encouragement to individuals and aspiring CEO's around the nation.

I am the author of "From Minimum Wage to Getting Paid - How To Become A Successful Entrepreneur With No Money, Education or Experience!" and I'm also a syndicated columnist who writes articles on empowerment, entrepreneurship, and personal development. My articles appear nationally in newspapers, magazines, and other on-line publications.

I consider myself a serial entrepreneur and have started several companies which include a real estate investment firm, a mortgage brokerage, a real estate sales firm, a marketing company and a training and consulting firm. I come from humble beginnings and have no formal education. So I know first hand just how difficult life can be when you do not have the right tools required to become successful. But I consider myself very fortunate because through books, classes, life experience and training programs I was able to break myself free from the cycle of poverty and through entrepreneurship was able to change my life and the future of my children. I know the grim reality of what my life would be like had I not pursued some form of education which is why it's my mission, and passion to help empower others so that they too can have the opportunity to live their lives at full potential.

I was born and raised in Chicago, IL where I was a single mom on welfare by the age of 16. I was married at 20 and by the time I was 26 I had two children, had escaped an abusive marriage and was back on welfare, barely able to support my children. With no money, or definite place to live I decided to take a risk and moved myself and my children to Charlotte, NC to make a fresh start.

That's where I began my own real estate business out of my tiny two-bedroom apartment. I had no budget and my clients came from knocking on doors. But with persistence and determination my sales began to grow and so did my clientele and for the first time in my life I was off welfare. It's been almost 12 years and I've never looked back! Today I travel the country providing motivational speeches and instructional seminars to aspiring business owners and individuals looking to take their personal like to the next level.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

Inspiring others to take action and change their life.

I know too much about ...

Nothing. I'm constantly seeking to learn as much as I can about all that I can.

My parents always told me ...

I could be whatever I wanted to be when I grew up.

My childhood ambition ...

To be a high priced attorney or a powerful CEO of a major corporation.

My favorite memory ...

Having my children and meeting and marrying my husband. I cherish all of those moments so I simply can not choose just one.

Why I write ...

To release my creativity and help others with my insight and information.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

Anything that inspires, empowers, motivates and educates. If I read or watch television, I only like to do so if I know that it will add value to my life.

My first job ...

The golden arches. That's right! McDonald's.

My best moment ...

My book release party. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I could accomplish such a feat!

My inspiration ...

My children, my husband and the people that I help. My children were my initial inspiration because I wanted to provide them with a life better than the one I had growing up. My husband inspires me because he is one of my biggest fans and I know he believes in me and supports me 115%! Most of the people I work with are just looking for an opportunity to improve their life. Through my workshops, seminars and coaching programs I inspire them to take action, take control and change their life.
