About me

I was born in Levittown, New York, on December 14, 1953. I had a big brother, Steve, who was five and a half years older than I was. My parents were Beverly and Myron, who had married in 1947. They divorced when I was five, a very nasty separation because Daddy had found a waitress to love-a much younger woman originally from Pennsylvania-and wanted to marry her.

Mom didn't want to let Dad go; it was a matter of pride, she insisted, but Daddy was as determined to extricate himself from the marriage as she was to keep it intact, and he won out. All I remember about it was running back and forth between my shouting parents, screaming at them to stop. Then Daddy was gone. He moved to Pennsylvania with Julie, his new wife, had two sons with her, and left my mother, brother and me in very bad financial straits.

Eventually, my father's wealthy parents began paying my mother her alimony and child support, but Mom went to work, and went on to became first an excellent real estate saleswoman, then a broker. She was also plagued by what was then called manic depression (now bi-polar illness), but it wreaked havoc on me during my childhood and teenage years, and the fact that I'm not a complete loon today proves I must have either great genes or good luck I haven't noticed yet. However, I see a shrink once a week because I'm a fucking mess.

Perhaps it was a mid-life crisis of sorts, but I was tired of my job, fed up with cooking and cleaning, annoyed over the day to day demands my family made on me. Watching SUPERNATURAL and steeping myself in its enthusuastic fandom helped ease the worst of my...
