Cafe Talk We're sitting in Tijuana Style, a Mexican restaurant with high beams and ceiling fans that rotate too slowly to disperse a mad mix of cilantro and the cheap cologne of Mexican waiters. Mariachi music drifts in the dining room from the bar. Everyone at our table, including the amateur stripper from Captain Creams, is drinking. The Laguna Beach hair stylist weaves on the edge of drunk. He waves at me from across the table with two gold ringed fingers that lift off his glass each time he brings it to his lips. I appear to be the only one concerned about his deteriorating condition. ...
