The principles governing evolution by natural selection are founded in Logic, and they are therefore necessarily valid.

In the case that there is a variation in traits among the individuals of a species, and in the case that different traits endow any of a species's individuals with different propensities to leave offspring in following generations, then those traits associated with the greatest fitness, that is, those traits leading to the greatest number of viable descendants, will find themselves with increasing frequency in subsequent generations among the members of the population.
