I live in northern Wisconsin, on the shores of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. I am married to my husband, Tom for over 28 years, and raised our two sons basically alone, as Tom worked as a truck driver for the first 25 years of our marriage. I enjoy being in the outdoors and the sense of adventure that comes with living in the northern woods of Wisconsin, with the wild winters and the exceptionally beautiful summers and falls. I majored in Wildlife Management in college, but was never able to find work in my field and instead started working at the school where our sons attended. Now, because of declining enrollment, my job has been reduced to a half time status. I have to find other things to do and since writing was what I was planning on doing when I ended my college career, why not give it another shot?
Since I was a young girl, I have been "exposed" to dieting and many various diets. My mother was always overweight, and joined a T.O.P.S Club, when I was only about eight years old, and then was one of the founding members of two other T.O.P.S. organizations. I know of all of the different diet pills, the different diets, the different exercise machines, and watched as my mother religiously counted her calories, would lose several pounds and then regain them. Today, at age 79, she is still a T.O.P.S. member and still counts calories, and is still overweight, although, in the past few years...
