: About Me

My name is Timothy J. Thompson. I have earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis. My major was United States History, while my Minor was in Twentieth Century European History with a special emphasis on the Two World Wars.

I am also a published author. My first book is entitled: GRIT AND VALOR: THE STORY OF SWALE. It is through the AuthorHouse Publishing Company. The book is all about the thoroughbred racehorse Swale. He was one of the greatest and most beloved sons of the legendary and immortal Seattle Slew. The book is available in three different formats. They are: 8.25 x 11 soft cover, and 6 x 9 hard cover and 6 x 9 soft cover. And, as stated previously, I also have my own website dedicated to Swale's everlasting memory. I have also published A second book! The title is: MAGICIANS ON ICE. It is the first in a series of upcoming volumes all about the history and greatness of the Soviet Hockey Dynasty. Volume #1 traces the roots of hockey in Russia and details how the Soviet philosophy with regard to the sport differed from the Canadian philosophy. It also chronicles the unique and imaginative training methods of the team, then takes an in-depth look at each of the games they played during their first official season in the International Ice Hockey Federation. This book also contains a complete and thorough index and includes 10 wonderful photographs for the readers' enjoyment. 

In addition to this, I have also published two major books on the subject of World War Two. Specifically, they are on the legendary and epic military campaign known to history as: THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. The first of these two works is entitled: Wacht Am Rhein; which is German for: Watch on the Rhine. That was the code phrase used by the Germans to fool the Americans into thinking that they [the Germans] were in a defensive posture only on the Western Front during the late fall and early winter months of 1944. The book is available in two different formats. They are 6 x 9 hardcover and 6 x 9 softcover. The book itself details the intense military preparations on the German side, as well as their massive military buildup just prior to launching their great Ardennes counter offensive. It is extemely well detailed and highly informative. This is the first in a series of upcoming volumes that will detail each and every aspect of this phenomenal military campaign. Specifically, the book covers everything that WACHT AM RHEIN does, but in even greater detail. It then explains every aspect of the massive German assault on day one, December 16 1944. All three fronts are covered in extensive detail and each German unit's attack is explained as if you are actually witnessing the battle first hand. There are 101 excellent photograpghs included for the readers' enjoyment, along with a full and comprehensive index that makes it very easy to find interesting facts and figures at the drop of a hat. In addition, THE ARDENNES ON FIRE: VOLUME ONE, comes with four excellent maps that were drawn by me personally, so you can follow all of the action step by step.
