My day job consist of teaching computer and creative writing classes to senior citizens at my local college, a job I truly love. I am also attending college working towards my BS in Administrative Services. At 50+ this has indeed been a challenge.
I have now taken on another writing opportunity, that of Site Steward for the Parenting(Other)Channel here at Helium. I look forward to reading, writing, motivating, and supporting the writers at Helium in what ever capacity I can.
Writing has been a long time passion of mine. My published credits include one short story and several poems. I also mentor F2K at Writers Village University's free online writing course. My biggest hurdle is finding the time to write, which I think is universal to all writers. I have completed several writing courses on fiction, childrens writing, and journalism.
My goal is to take the snippets of writing cluttering my file folders and develop them into something worth submitting for publication. It's like playing the lottery - if you don't play you'll never win and if you don't submit you'll never get published.

Publication in the Miraculous Medal Mag. Short Story 1995

Apparitional Encounter The sound of a baby crying followed by an evil laugh ricocheted through the old farmhouse. Marsha bolted upright in bed clutching the covers tightly to her bosom, her heart pounding like a jackhammer in her chest. It eerie sound lasted only a few short moments then dead silence. She waited for what seemed an eternity then slipped quietly from bed and peered out the bedroom door. A faint light shone from under the door at the far end of the hall. She had turned all the lights off before she went to bed, she was sure she had. She eased her way back to the bedside table...
