A writer is a writer, it's as simple as that. Ever heard the phrase, "Never judge a book by its cover?" Maybe a new phrase should be in effect, "Never judge an author by his or her criminal record."

Any author, no matter who they are or what they have done in their lifetime, should reap the benefits of their literary creations. If someone else took the profit from the books being sold, they would be committing a crime as well: theft.
