I'm an incorrigble Navy brat, have a Masters in Psychology, worked in clandestine ops for the US Government, and played drums and bass in Rock-n-Roll bands in the eighties.

Yes, spanking a child is a useful tool in the kit of childrearing. Its usefulness depends, however, on the sobriety, the mental stability, and the common sense of the disciplining parent.
