Come prepared! It's that simple. Expect delays, expect poor service, expect no one to care that you are exhausted, hungry, broke, and oh yeah, traveling with 4 children 5 and under! If you come prepared- you can survive anything. My family and I were recently delayed 8 hours on the Northwest Airlines terminal at the Philadelphia airport. There was one "snack stand" that took cash only (I am certain their credit card machine wasn't broken like the sign said), no cash machine, and one bathroom with only 3 stalls.
