After learning yesterday that a couple of public schools in my area will be closing down as well as teachers and staff losing their jobs, due to our states's education budget cuts, I feel very disheartened for the future of our children. My child was just tested for Irlen's Syndrome after struggling with his writing and displaying many of the symptoms that not only myself, but educational facilitators, pediatric physicians, and optometrists don't give much attention to. It was thanks to my child's first grade teacher that recognized the signs and took the time to pursue the issue further. ...
