My name is Marisa Setzer and I am a seventh grade math teacher in North Carolina. I received my Bachelor's degree from Lenoir-Rhyne College and my Master's from Appalachian State University.I have been in education for 13 years.
I am a mother of two teenagers and the keeper of one older sister. I am a published poet and a wannabe writer. I love trivia, word play, dark humor and order in my world. I think my purpose for living is to try and make everyone else's existence a little more pleasant and to help everyone learn a little more than they knew yesterday.

Homework is meant to give students the opportunity to engage in independent practice. The ultimate goal should not be for the child to bring in a paper that is devoid of errors; but rather to allow the child to practice the skill they were introduced to in the classroom. Practice, by definition, implies that the skill has not been mastered and mistakes will be made. For this reason, I hold my students accountable for attempting to complete all of the assigned problems but I expect them to make any necessary corrections as we go over the problems in class.
