: About Me

I lived with undiagnosed ADHD for forty-four years. But the irony is I wasn't fully diagnosed. I met with a certified professional for an initial diagnosis and came away with an unfettered disgust for the entire ADHD diagnostic process. Hence, a book was born.

I just completed the manuscript for a book entitled: Dear Mary-My life with ADHD. The book chronicles the journey towards an ADHD epiphany. It also depicts the areas of my life where undiagnosed ADHD had the most impact.

Writing has always been a passion for me. Unfortunately, other people who were close to me never saw the gleam in my eye when I put my thoughts into words. Even after having commentary published in periodicals, family and friends wondered why I wasn't progressing faster up the restaurant industry career ladder.

While the restaurant industry has paid the bills, my true passion in life is writing. It took awhile, but I finally realized it's not what you do, but how much effort you put into it. Passion is the driving force behind effort.

Helium has been a true blessing, allowing me to pursue my passion in an innovative format. I write daily, even when my mind has a sign that reads "Vacancy." This Web site is not only an outstanding venue for writers to hone their skills, I've found it to be an excellent fountain of knowledge that bursts out of the many writers that submit articles.

I'm still trying to define my writing style, though I write in a more fluid manner when I insert humor into a commentary piece. My humor is dry with a tinge of sarcasm. Some refer to my humor as off-the-wall.
