About me - Cheri Long

About me

I'm Cheri Long, a writer and editor living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (my US mailing address is in Laredo, TX). I have an MA in English from Northern Illinois University. I'm trilingual, speaking Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and speak a little French.

I spend a lot of time editing for other writers, but have had non-fiction articles published in various magazines and online journals, on the subjects of politics, health, psychology and religion. I've published a small number of short stories and poems as well. At present am working on a novel, having written one before as well as two screenplays.

I'm married to an Episcopal priest, I do a lot of charity work locally here in Mexico, have two grown children, one grandson and three dogs. I love to read, also indulging often in film studies and in cooking, but travel is my first love. I grew up in Texas, spent most of my adult life in Chicago before moving to Mexico in '97.

Selling my writing is not my forte, which is true for a lot of writers. I could use some networking. I enjoy the internet a lot, and do my main research via the net.

No, I was just trying to find a working clock in the 3rd section of the market place in an IKEA store in Round Rock, Texas. Very clever of the Swedes: there's no clock so if you've been cavalier and forgotten your wristwatch, you're done for. But it's the most wonderful time of the year in America, and one must do one's part. Truth be told, i...
