: About Me

Hello! My name is Michele Carroll. I grew up in Orange County, New York and currently live in Central Florida.
When I was a child, books were my passion. I wrote my first story when I was in fourth grade. Although I loved reading and writing I never considered writing for a living.
After high school, I went to art school in NYC and had a career in commercial art for about ten years. In 1991 we moved to Florida. I wound up in accounting for a well known timeshare resort.
After my husband died, I started thinking about writing again and took a correspondence writing course with the Institute of Children's Literature, which helped give me confidence in my writing ability and helped me heal from the grief.
In November 2007 I was very excited when the first article I wrote for Marketplace was sold!

Today my big passions are belly dancing and aromatherapy.

A Slice of Pie I remember a time when I was about seven or eight years old traveling with my parents through Virginia. We were on our way to Natural Bridge to see relatives. It was way past the dinner hour and we stopped at a cafe with welcoming lights, to eat. We were the only customers in the place after what appeared to be the end of a long and busy dinner rush.
