About me - Joe Kelly

About me

My name's Joe Kelly and I'm a 52 year old gay man living and working in Dublin, Ireland.  My main interest, besides writing, is travel - at the moment, SE Asia is my favourite destination. I lived in the UK for 8 years, where I went to college. I also lived in western Canada for a year, and I have many fond memories of my time there.
My main career was in Community Work, latterly working with a peace charity, Co-operation Ireland, which tries to bring the two communities in Northern Ireland closer together, as well as developing links with groups in the Republic of Ireland. However, about 5 years ago I felt it was time for a complete change and I now work in the hotel industry.
I wrote short stories many years ago, but consider myself a novice writer now.  But it's something I'm keen to develop.

Does it work for everyone with an alcohol problem? No, it doesn't, but then no alcohol recovery programme is 100% effective. AA is the original self-help group, with the first members coming together in the 1930s to help each other stay sober. Its programme works on the belief that the alcoholic cannot recover solely by his or her own efforts - that the support of other alcoholics, and crucially a 'higher power', ...
