Living in rural northern Michigan, Candace is happiest when she is outdoors. If she is inside she usually is not far from a window or door and is likely to pause often to look out or go out.

Spring is definitely her favorite season and is fodder for thought and for writing. She likes to use it to fuel her imagination. Summer,winter and fall all have their good aspects. She stays busy in all seasons with a variety of pursuits. These interests include: ,gardening,sewing,cooking,reading,swimming,playing flute,knitting,crocheting,building,raising chickens,encouraging her husband,rearing children and cheering on her grandchildren and their parents.

Her writing started in college when she switched her major from music to communications after deciding her eye for painting pictures with words was better than her ear for music. Following college she was assistant editor at a small weekly newspaper in central Michigan and then became editor of this same publication, "The Leslie Local". She left this paper and moved north to marry. She, and her husband, Dennis, have managed to raise a houseful of kids homeschooling all of them during part of their upbringing. Now three of those offspring are married and two have children of their own. Hence the addition of a three young men and four youngsters to the brood. The youngest two children are finishing up their high school years with some help from Mama in the country nest she stays busy feathering.

Candace is interested in writing on a variety of topics and has a sampling of pieces on a wide range of topics on Helium. She also has a blog on Xanga.com under the penname of Sloggy. These two sites give a snapshot of her writing ability. She has some photos posted on Xanga and has some ability in that area as well as editing and writing experience.

I was paid for raking up and burying dead fish along the beach as well as selling birchbark craft items I made.

Listening to the haunting cry of loons echo across the water. Seeing a pair of deer appear on the edge of the lake. Looking at the water lilies or wild irises blooming.Sitting in a boat looking at the reflections rippling on the water. These all make happy memories flood back into my mind. I've spent a lifetime fishing, first, with my Dad, then, with my husband and kids.That's why fishing holds a lot of attraction for me.
